You must now proceed to the area where the submarine is located and the easiest way to do that would be to fast travel to the Calvert Mansion. Proceed south from there and ignore a wrecked ship seen in the distance. The sub itself can be found under water, so you'll have to swim to it. Thankfully it won't be too deep, so you don't have to worry about running out of oxygen. Examine the upper section of the submarine and find a hatch leading to SSNA [ 82]. You should make your stay inside the submarine as short as possible, because once again you'll expose yourself to radiation. Make sure to examine contents of a small footlocker before you focus on your assignment.

This interesting side quest also presents gamers with the longest side quest in the entire Point Lookout expansion heck, it's longer than half of the main quest missions in the DLC too. It all begins at one location in Point Lookout you're likely familiar with, especially if you followed our walkthrough through Point Lookout's main quest and uncovered said location early on. The Homestead Motel is an abandoned building north of Pilgrim's Landing, where you first come ashore on the Maryland coast. When you arrive at the motel, you'll find that there are only two doors you can enter into the building via that aren't boarded up. If you're facing the location of both doors, you're going to want to go through the door on your left, since it's in the very room beyond that door that you'll find the origins of The Velvet Curtain side quest. When you enter the motel room, you'll find a rather disturbing scene, with skeletal remains sitting atop the queen-sized bed.

To start this side quest, travel to the Homestead Motel , north of Pilgrim's Landing. Enter Room 1D and activate the terminal. You will receive instructions to go to the lockers south of the motel and use a key to get into the locker. The key is located inside the briefcase on the bed. You can also start this quest by reading about the spy alert using a terminal in Turtledove Detention Camp 's Administration building. Another way of starting this quest is to find a wanted poster like in the image above, then activate it. The quest should be added to your Pip-Boy.
